Hearty Surprise
11 January 2016
Edendale School children received a special visitor on Tuesday the 18th June when the Heart Foundation’s mascot, Hearty, popped in. Hearty and friends from the Heart Foundation presented the school with a six slice industrial sandwich press valued at $1,600 after the centre won the a fuelled4life prize draw.
Edendale Sschool won the prize draw after recently registering with fuelled4life, along with hundreds of early childhood education centres and schools throughout the country. On his visit, Hearty was accompanied by the Heart Foundation’s Southland Health Promotion Coordinator Linda Harris. They joined the school for a healthy morning tea, consisting of a variety of fruit and sandwiches.
“It was great to see this prize go to Edendale in Southland. The school has been promoting the importance of healthy eating through its curriculum recently, so it was perfect timing to to for them to be the national winner of the fuelled4life competition,” she says.
Now they have an appliance that will help them to continue this, and provide something warm for the children to eat through the winter months. “We are sure the children will be enjoying lots of healthy grilled sandwiches from now on,”.
The Heart Foundation thanks nationwide catering service Choice Catering Equipment Ltd for providing the six sandwich industrial press for the prize draw.
